Programming Instructions for Zapper (ACS-2)

(If using the Logitech Harmony, see the Logitech Harmony section below.)
 

To use a single IR remote button for switching the ACS-2 both on and off:

  1. Press and hold the button on the ACS-2 head for about three seconds, until the green LED blinks several times.
  2. At this point, the green LED should be lit, and stay lit.
  3. Holding the IR remote at least 15 inches away from the ACS-2 head, press and hold the IR remote button until the green LED turns off, then release the IR remote button. The green LED should re-light.
  4. Repeat step 3 two more times.

Programming is complete, and the ACS-2 is ready to use.

To use two IR remote buttons for switching the ACS-2, one IR button for on, and one for off:

  1. Press and hold the button on the ACS-2 head for about three seconds, until the green LED blinks several times.
  2. At this point, the green LED should be lit, and stay lit.
  3. Holding the IR remote at least 15 inches away from the ACS-2 head, press and hold the IR remote button (the one that you will be using to turn the ACS-2 on) until the green LED turns off, then release the IR remote button. The green LED should re-light.
  4. Repeat step 3 once more.
  5. The green LED should blink several times, then re-light.

    The first IR remote button is now programmed into the ACS-2. The procedure for the second IR remote button is the same, specifically:
  6. Holding the IR remote at least 15 inches away from the ACS-2 head, press and hold the IR remote button (the one that you will be using to turn the ACS-2 off) until the green LED turns off, then release the IR remote button.
  7. Repeat step 6 once more.

Programming is complete, and the ACS-2 is ready to use.

Note that it is a good idea to wait about 10 seconds or so after step 1 to make sure that the green LED stays lit before you press any IR remote buttons. This serves to check if the IR receiver head of the ACS-2 is picking up any stray IR that might be originating from fluorescent lighting, including backlights from LCD and plasma displays. If you find that the green LED is not staying lit, then turn off any displays that you might have powered up. Once the ACS-2 is programmed, fluorescents shouldn't be a problem.
 
 

Logitech Harmony
 

The ACS-2 now comes pre-programmed with power on/off codes.

Here's an example of setting a Harmony to control an on/off device. This example is for switching a power audio amplifier that we will name "Audio Amp", but you can name it for your particular device. The steps are:

  1. Add the following device to your Harmony: Light Controller -> Xantech ->CC12.
  2. Rename the "Xantech CC12" to "Audio Amp" (or the name of your particular device).
Your Harmony will then show this new device with 2 functions (buttons): "On" and "Off".
The ACS-2 is now ready to use.
 
 

Enabling/Disabling Delayed-Shutdown Mode

 

When delayed-shutdown is disabled (factory default), the AC switch should immediately switch on and off, and the red LED should not light, or blink.

When delayed-shutdown is enabled, the LED will blink red for about 25 seconds before switching the AC power off.

Pressing and holding the button on the ACS-2 head for 6 seconds will cause the LED to light red. This indicates that the delayed-shutdown mode has been turned on or off.

If when you release the button, the red LED immediately switches off, then the delayed-shutdown mode has been disabled.

If when you release the button, the red LED stays lit for about a second before switching off, then the delayed-shutdown mode has been enabled.
