PCS-2 Kit Assembly Steps |
||
| One lead of the LED is larger than the other to ensure that it can only be inserted into the PCB with the proper polarity. | ||
| Pushbutton. | ||
| 220 Ohm resistor --red, red, brown gold color bands. | ||
| 10KOhm resistor -- brown, black, orange, gold bands. | ||
| 100 Ohm resistor -- brown, black, brown, gold bands. | ||
| 4.7 uF polarized capacitor. Note that the negative side marking of the capacitor goes to closest edge of the PCB. | ||
| 01.uF capacitor. Non-polarized, so it does not matter which way it is installed. | ||
| Header pins. | ||
| IR receiver. Insert the legs through the holes, then bend the receiver legs as shown. | ||
| Note the orientation of the chip installation. | ||
| Solder the brown and black twisted pair in these two holes. It does not matter which wire is in which of these two holes. | ||
| Solder the red wire here. | ||
| Solder the black wire here. | ||
| Solder the purple wire here. | ||

||
| There are 4 male Molex pins with 2 sets of wires connected to each. One set goes to a female connector. The other set are just bare, individual wires -- these are the ones that you will be cutting, stripping, and splicing. | ||
From left to right, cut the yellow wire and adjacent black wire as short as possible. Cut, strip, and tin with solder the other black wire and red wire. |
||
| Strip and tin the loose ends of the black and red wires that you soldered to the PCS-2 board above. | ||
| Solder the black and red wires from the last step to the red and black Molex pins as shown. | ||
| Cut the included heatshrink tubing into 4 equal pieces. | ||
| Heat shrink onto the bottom of the 4 Molex pins for proper insulation. | ||
| To make inserting the wires properly, slide the empty Molex shell onto the Molex that already has wires inserted. | ||
| Match the colors, and insert each of the pins until they click into place. | ||
The final product. Note that included in the kit is 3M double sided tape for mounting the PCS-2 inside the PC. |
